happier, healthier life
A Client Centered Approach
I believe that no single modality can be relied upon to heal, as such I am qualified in a number of different methods to support you to achieve your goals and be your very best. I will work with you to develop a programme of therapies and interventions which are customised to your specific needs and objectives. Some of the work we do may include:
Hypnotherapy
I’m not to be confused with a stage hypnotist, you won’t be expected to sing like Elvis or dance like a baboon! Clinical hypnotherapy uses scientifically proven techniques to relax the conscious mind, allowing access to the subconscious mind where many of our emotions, memories, habits and phobias reside. Through a carefully structured session, the power of the subconscious is unlocked, allowing true resolution on long held limiting beliefs and responses.
EMDR
EMDR is a therapeutic technique widely used in the resolution of trauma, PTSD and CPTSD. It stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a form of therapy in which the person being treated is asked to recall memories or events; through a process called bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movement or tapping either side of the body. I then work with the client to allow the release of actions and emotions associated with that memory.
Breathwork
Breathwork uses simple breathing exercises to restore the bodies natural homeostasis or sense of calm. With origins from the Greek words for "same" and "steady," we use the breath to direct our body and move towards a relaxed calm sensation, removing anxiety and stress in the process. There are many types of breathwork and having had over 90 hours of intensive training across the various methods and practices, I am sure there is something to help everyone.
Relaxation & Meditation
It is well accepted that a regular meditation practice can have numerous mental and physical health benefits. I will guide you through a series of relaxations and meditations or focussed attentions, to help relieve stress, anxiety, emotional and physical pain. I may also provide you with recordings to listen to away from the therapy sessions.
Yoga Nidra
The broad translation of Yoga Nidra is Yogic sleep. This practice involves a progressive movement of your awareness as you scan through different parts of the body. Promoting a sense of physical, emotional and mental relaxation. Yoga Nidra relaxes the mind at the same time as relaxing the body and helps you to clear out the nerve pathways to the brain. Through regular practice of Yoga Nidra you can counteract the effect of stress and hyperactivity in the front, conscious part of the brain by accessing different parts of the brain that can help us regulate the different layers of our body and mind.
Theta Healing®
Theta Healing® is a non-invasive technique that accesses healing by bringing your mind into a meditative state to relearn harmful thoughts and change your reality. It is based on the idea that our subconscious mind holds emotions and behaviour patterns which manifests in our actions. By changing negative beliefs in the subconscious mind, ThetaHealing® helps to heal emotional and spiritual issues, which could lead to resolving of physical conditions.
The work of ThetaHealing® is done while the brain is producing theta brain waves, one of the five frequencies at which the brain operates. Theta brain waves are of a slower speed, and our brains are often in this state just before sleeping, just after waking or when we are in a deeply relaxed state of mind. While similar in some ways to hypnotherapy, ThetaHealing® differs in that it blends science and spirituality, using mediation and prayer to access the unconditional love of the creator and change beliefs that hold you back. While a spiritual practice, it is not associated with any particular religion and is accessible for everyone.
Sound Therapy
Sound Therapy uses sound, music and specialist instruments played in therapeutic ways, combined with deep self-reflection techniques to improve health and wellbeing. Using a combination of relaxing meditation and instruments such as Tibetan singing bowls this leads to a release of tension, discomfort and pain, both in the mind and body.
I also offer Sound Oasis® sessions which are group sessions where you experience an immersive soundscape using relaxation and therapeutic instruments to relive the stresses and tensions of daily life, an emotional tune up, suitable for all. Contact me for a list of upcoming sessions
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the shortened term for mindfulness meditation practice. This is a form of self-awareness training adapted from Buddhist mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness is about being aware of what is happening in the present, moment-by-moment, without making judgements about what we notice. It can be practiced in many different ways and styles and I will evaluate the style which suits your objectives and goals. It is a great addition to anyone’s mental health toolkit and proves a very popular way to ride the stresses of modern life, relinquishing anxiety in the process.
